I just tried it, it works for me.
You need ensure you've removed $SMX_HOME/data folder(this is the
bundle cache) after you change activemq-broker.xml and restart the
container.

Hi,
There's two place in etc/ activemq-broker.xml you need change from
61616 to 61617, ensure you have modified both(we have improved to
use system properties so that for later version you only need change
it from one place).
Also there's another port(61613) for stomp you need change.
