If you play with password saving, does the pproblem disappear?
The bug here is a very old bug in Thunderbird where two simultaneous SSL
connections will cause a dead lock when authentication occurs. Very
difficult to work-around because there is no way to intercept both the
SSL connections to the mail servers and to SOGo.
Please note that the Mozilla team does not consider this bug to be
important enough to fix, since it has been lying for at least 6 years...
