just yesterday I was able to find the reason and reproduce a very similar

Maybe you can check the access rights to the subscribed calendar? You have to
explicitly allow access to the calendar. At least in my case, the default
access rights don't work. Furthermore, I get an error when the subscribed
calendar contains events which I'm not allowed to access (e.g. private events).
