I sent an email to this list awhile ago about this problem. https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists/arc/users/2010-10/msg00272.html In our case the delay was very noticeable because we did not have one of the attributes indexed on our ldap server. This made Thunderbird 3 usable but it still would be great if Thunderbird would not search those ldap directories for each email read.
