Modal browser windows will block me from doing effective work. I often have to cross check different SOGo Instances and display one email in different variants. E.g. displaying different message sources and/or multiple messages in own windows and/or writing of new message, while checking prefences. And I don't see the benefit of it. Just my 2ct's.
