The problem stems from the fact that enterprise address books are not downloadable as a whole thing, but can be searched only. All private address books can be searched and downloaded. Apple Address Book tries to download the enterprise address book and gets nothing. Therefore you don't get autocompletion for Apple Mail too, as it only looks on the locally downloaded addresses. I don't know why free/busy doesn't work.
