Our current setup does not allow us to properly invite groups of people to a
meeting or event by simply using their group email address. I figure this is
due to the groups are setup in /etc/aliases on our mail server rather than in
OpenLDAP. For instance if we were to send an invitation to
[email protected] for a meeting next monday they all will receive the
email invitation but it shows:

[email protected] is proposing a meeting to the attendees. You receive this
mail as a notification, you are not scheduled as a participant.

If we were to instead have the groups setup in OpenLDAP would this behaviour
change and allow the individuals to accept/decline the invitation? Any pointers
are welcome.
