Hi,
I have recently discovered the sogo-slapd-sockd 'ldap interface' to
access personal contacts. However...there is not so much documentation
available...
Are people here using it? The limitations mentioned in 2010 by Wolfgang
Sourdeau still seem to apply:
- the utility must run under the same user as SOGo, so that it can
access its configuration values
Since sogo is now a system user, I have done chown sogo:sogo, with
setgid/setuid. That seems to work.
- because of this, the socket permissions need to be each time AFTER the
utility is launched (chmod 777 /var/run/sogo/sogo-sockd.sock does it, in
unsecured testing environments).
That still seems to be required.
- the utility does not behave like a "daemon" yet, therefore it won't
detach itself from the terminal automatically yet nor will it handle
multiple connections simultaneously.
Also no changes here, I guess..? Meaning this will not scale very well,
I guess?
Therefore: Is it still supported? Accessing SOGo personal contacts over
ldap seems like a very cool and valuable to us. Can we trust this
functionality to be maintained/improved..?
Regards,
Mourik Jan
