I'm thinking about installing SmartOS to use as a VM host on a server. Basically it is an open source distribution of Solaris built and supported by Joyent, a datacenter company. It can use ZFS (filesystem), comstar (virtualized networking), zones (a type of virtual machine), etc. and even run Linux or Windows using KVM virtualization. There is an open source web management tool for it called Project Fifo.
Most applications that I want to run are open source and already available in Solaris/SmartOS. The one I'm concerned about is groupware. Currently I'm using Open-Xchange on a Debian system, but they are strictly Debian/Red Hat. The French wikipedia page for Sogo mentions Solaris and FreeBSD: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/SOGo The installation manual does not. So, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience running SOGo in a Solaris zone? I would love to be able to use SOGo this way and am willing to switch from Open-Xchange if it can be done.
