b) No, SOGo is looking up free/buzy info from the exchange server over the /ews. And as far as I know, this will only work using the SOGo web interface. (we are not doing it using thunderbird) I might have some notes somewhere, if you'd like it, I could try to look them up. I think it has been discused (long ago, i think) on this mailinglist as well.
