It has been asked before, but I have not seen any answer yet. Maybe I am
wrong.
In my opinion, the best way would be to keep your running installation
and build from scratch the second version you want.
It would not break depencies from your repository. You'll have to rename
the daemon so that it would not conflict with the existing one and use a
different alias for your http server.
Another way could be to use jail or chroot, but I am not very used to
that.
Are you using deb, rpm, ... ?
