want to compose ONE e-mail in plain-text; or, for others that have default =
plain-text, they might want to compose in HTML.

Can someone please give me a truly sensible reason why it's necessary to
write emails in HTML?
Personally, I find it a nuisance to constantly have to reformat HTML
emails in my inbox.
