At work I didn't, I just use cas authentication with lemonldap for SOGo
and plain text (ssl protected) password for thunderbird, at home I tried
with

again, using lemonldap and it works (with the help of gemini to debug
and configure lemonldap).
At home SOGo uses a passwordless cyrus-imapd server, SOGo itself is
behind lemonldap.
There are a bunch of bugs in thunderbird to integrate oauth2 for a self
hosted mail server, but for the time being the thunderbird-custom-idp works.
Another problem is android: k9/thunderbird-mobile AFAIK have no support
for oauth2(*), fairemail does but it's difficult to setup and I didn't test.
(*) just like desktop thunderbird oauth2 support only works for some
predefined providers, like gmail, outlook, yahoo, etc.
