Gael you should be able to filter on the external files today with the frange query parser and retrieving the value of the field field with the field() function. Not sure if there is a more efficient way. https://solr.apache.org/guide/7_5/other-parsers.html#function-range-query-parser
Joel, how do you handle syncing all the external files across all of the solr nodes? We currently use the file fields and have a process that pushes them out to each node but wondering how others are handling it.
