We get about 6,500 valid emails per day that amavis has to deal with (plus another 70,000 that are rejected by Courier). Spamd deals with around 4,500 messages per day. System load is rarely above 0.2. Spamd processes will grab somewhere from 4-7% cpu when they are active. Total CPU is usually below 10%. I'm currently running 10 spamd children, although I probably don't need that many.
