The
Bayes DBase we use here was set to the default autolearn levels.
IT
was first set about 1 year ago and the first anyone looked at it was when I started looking at how it was performing.
Basically, it was tagging about 75% of mail as BAYES_00 (we receive about
70% SPAM here), so the BAYES was way off
I
reset the autolearn level for HAM as -4, as I suspected that it had been
learning things that weren't really ham. The autolearn level for SPAM stayed the
same. I hoped this would be a temporary fix to the problem, until I could come
up with something more permanent.
What
this actually did, was mean that the Bayes DB kept seeing more and more SPAM
messages with our mail header in it. Hence over time, it began to think more and
more clearly that anything with our mail header in it was definitely SPAM.
This
has finally reached a head and we have had to disable Bayes altogether until we
can iron this out.
So,
my question is, how on earth do I go about repairing this
mess?
