yes. but there isn't anything indicating that the spam db are used or
tests are being done against them. should there be any?
i read in the documentation that use_bayes is set to 1 (true) by default
so i don't have to add anything in the user-conf except the db location:

bayes_path  /path/to/spamdb

does ending forward slash matter?

Actually, you MUST NOT end in a slash.. and it should end in the word "bayes", and there must be no directory named bayes there.


 bayes_path is actually a path AND half a filename.

Specifically, in the above example, spamdb MUST NOT be a subdirectory present in /path/to/

SA will then create /path/to/spamdb_toks /path/to/spamdb_seen, etc.

My guess is you've been fooled by the option name and have entered a path. Just post-pend "bayes" onto the end.

bayes_path /path/to/spamdb/bayes

and you'll get normal behavior.
