The bug report that introduced this change claimed 100% backward compatability for at least one year, later changed to until 4.0 came out, whenever that will be.You're misreading that. Backwards compatibility in the code will be maintained for at least one year after the 4.0 release,
Sorry about misreading that.It's a shame that there is no requirement for backward compatability BEFORE the 4.0 release. Whenever that comes out.
