I generally agree, that many mail servers are badly administered, but, 
frankly, if a mailserver needs to be "configured" for being able to 
resolve/print the hostnames in the Received headers I'd consider the 
configure/install script, whatever gets used to install it, to be broken. 
There is something called "reasonable defaults".
