There is nothing specific to amavisd-new in this area, all the usual SA behaviour applies. You can try: amavisd debug-sa and observe SA debug log, observing paths used and possible problems reported by SA during its initialization. Remember that amavisd runs under UID vscan (or whatever is configured). Pay attention to files *.pre in /usr/local/etc/mail/spamassassin (or wherever) as Justin pointed out. Mark
