Actually that patch doesn't fix the problem, assuming the user doesn't have a ~/.spamassassin directory already and they're just running sa-learn. I updated bug 4923 with some info. Ironically, all of this is being caused by a fix for bug 4827 which was spurred into existence by problems debugging problems because incorrect paths were being chosen for things.
