Which would be resolved in exactly the same way in which mails that
already loop is solved (i.e too many hops).

(Assuming you don't rewrite <>. You could also add a header to
indicate a forwaded email. X-ForwardedFor: <original-return-path> and
use that for a bounce).

Either way existing forwarding is broken.
