As a result of those thousands (millions) of Spam emails sent 'by me', I get a hefty number of undeliverable email notices in my inbox (from the thousands of invalid address in the spammer address book). It goes in waves, sometimes I'll go months without any and all of a sudden I'll find 500 in my inbox.
Is it spam for male enhancement products? An "herbal king" spammer was sending untold millions a day from a botnet using the sender address [EMAIL PROTECTED] We were getting as many as 3 million backscatter per day to that address. Think about it-- a minority of the targets were invalid recipients, and of those a minority were on systems that accept and then mail a bounce-- and it was 3 million! We got off relatively easy because the address is not and never was a valid address. They all stopped at the RCPT command. But just taking all the connections was getting insane. This went on for over a year but has almost stopped in the past few weeks. We're down to 5,000 or fewer per day. I doubt the spammer is out of business. Somebody else must be getting all the backscatter. Joseph Brennan Lead Email Systems Engineer Columbia University Information Technology
