It would be wise to get it installed, then play with it a bit (spamassassin -D --lint etc.) and get familiar with it's basic runnings before you plunge into configuring it. You are surely going to get stumped on how to get email to go through SpamAssassin, and this is not the forum for that; there are *numerous* how-to's on the web re: SpamAssassin and Ubuntu.
