Oh!  Nah, actually I just said *preferably* adding your own SMTP, and
meant "as a buffer between fetchmail and procmail", which I found to be
really stable. As opposed to using the MDA option of fetchmail and
skipping the default of using a local SMTP.

With a home-user setup, I would never use the SMTP for outbound unless
relaying.

Indeed. As I understand this thread, this is purely about home usage.
And even then, I would never use the local SMTP on dynamic IP for direct
delivery of outbound mail.
