Hmm... I just test this again & was able to build with no problems.
I am using maven 2.0.5 and I updated both pom.xml and parent-pom.xml to 
change 5.0.4-SNAPSHOT to 5.0.5-SNAPSHOT.

What version of maven are you using?
Are you able to build the Tapestry core project?
