T5: Crash on messages.format()

I'm trying this in T 5.0.13:

messages.format("view.last.x", Integer.toString(VIEW_LIMIT));

In my properties file:
view.last.x = View last %d

The following exception occurs:

An unexpected application exception has occurred.

Render queue error in Expansion[PropBinding[expansion
profiles/ChangeLog(toggleViewAllLabel)]]: d != java.lang.String


Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?
