Hi! Concerning the Dialog component, default is to not show the dialog. See autoOpen value in the Dialog component: http://github.com/got5/tapestry5-jquery/blob/master/src/main/java/org/got5/tapestry5/jquery/components/Dialog.java
Concerning the datefield, I'll have a look and try to make a test case. Please post an issue on Github for both items and we will try to find out what is not working.
