The problem is the datapicker.css uses system colors which for some reason result as black on black. http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/ui.html#system-colors
It's supposed to make the datepicker match your system colors. http://www.iangraham.org/books/xhtml1/appd/update-23feb2000.html The two classes that are used in the header are: ActiveCaption for the background CaptionText for the text Both of these are Black on webkit on the Mac.
