They are working properly now. 

Dont know why my select handlers are not getting triggered from the form submit 
though...

yeah that static first flag (c language hack) is starting to sound more enticing

Alright Thiagi... pretty slick response... telling me that thats proper 
behavior when I am getting clobbered.

so i feel like I want to ring the guys neck who suggested to put those in 
setUpRender to begin with

But I dont see the solution

yeah and I switched everything to int instead of Integer... so now in order to 
acccomodate your solution I need to switch back to Integer...

Well it looks legit so I will give it a swing.
