JSTL variable attribute for tiles:getAsString

Hi Tiles People

kudos on the superb v2.0 - I'm just migrating now and it's going well, I 
like the new features.

A question: in the xml definitions, why does the 'type' attribute for 
put-attributes exist if it isn't mandatory?
