Question reg. setting the environment variable

hello,
   
  i'd installed jdk-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p-iftw and jakarta-tomcat-4.1.31 on 
desktop.but unable to set its required path.i request u to kindly help me out 
for the same and starting my Tomcat.
