You are completely right!

The option that was causing the trouble was:

JkOptions      -ForwardURICompat

the original line I sent earlier was:

JkOptions     +ForwardKeySize -ForwardURICompat +ForwardDirectories

The docs tell me that by default this option is on and that is should only
be used for compatibility with older tomcat versions 3.2.x.

Either there is a bug in the documentation or I completely misunderstud it.
I am running tomcat 5.5.15, which is clearly not the tomcat version 3.2.x,
so I figured if this option was on by default, I should turn it off.

The docs also say that this is less compliant. So it's a pitty that this
does not work on my tomcat version.
