Might be a problem with the special character not being escaped.  RFC 3986 
strongly suggests that any character outside the ASCII set be encoded with the 
usual %xx mechanism when used in a URI; can you tell if that's being done, or 
try forcing it to see what happens?

Or maybe it's a plot to get you to switch to euros...
