I have confirmed this error on a clean XP install (completely virgin, nothing but up to date patches installed) with clean JDK 1.5_06 setup. The installer ID'ed the JRE correctly and tray applet is running.
This problem is repeatable on many various XP installs, real and virtual, dev and non-dev.
