To reiterate: whatever script is doing the rotation is *not* part of
the standard Tomcat distribution.  It likely is part of the Debian
mangling of Tomcat into Debian-specific packages.  You'll need to find
the script and adjust it to meet your needs.


Most likely: 'man logrotate'  will help.


But first, have a look at /etc/init.d/tomcat(version).
And if you find a problem there, you should contact the person who wrote that script, on whatever Linux Debian list he lives. There is nothing the Tomcat developers and other people on this list can do about it.
