Java 6 is dead and frankly so is Java 7. IBM may still support their own JVMs... I'm not in a position to know. There may be a bug in the Java runtime that is causing problems for you. At least make sure you are running the absolutely latest version of Java 6 that you can get from IBM for AIX.
