What I found is when I renamed <appname>.xml to ROOT.xml in <TOMCAT_HOME>/conf/Catalina/<host> then war file exploded in to the ROOT directory in tomcat web apps folder. Is this the expected behavior?? Because when I used as an exploded folder then it referred to it from the same <CATALINA_HOME>/deploy folder.
