OS will be the same and presumably the hardware is fully
backward-compatible. The only question is whether or not you will get
any benefit from the z17 if the software doesn't change. For example,
are there any JVMs available that take advantage of new capabilities?
Generally speaking, if the JVM runs, then Tomcat will run.
There are always potential issues with file handling, port handling,
etc. when the host OS is significantly different from UNIX or Windows,
but I don't see any of those things changing if you already have Tomcat
running on your pre-17 z/ system and z/OS 3.2.
I agree with Zdenek that now would be a good time to consider upgrading
your software versions like JVM (you didn't specify what you were
running) and Tomcat (to 10.1.latest).
There are a bunch of important security fixes between the version you
mentioned and the latest Tomcat 10.1.x release. This may be true of your
JVM version as well.
