Haven't seen any code in 5.5 that "knows" when the changeover is; that information is provided by the JRE. Sun has announced which levels of its JVM support the new changeover, although that may need further updating when other countries match what the US is doing. Can't speak about other JVMs. Tomcat (not TomCat) version 3?
