Thanks, that solved it.  I wasn't clued in to tomcat5w.exe.

I'm curious about how Tomcat finds the "default" jvm in the first place.  It 
could mean I need to change some system parameter somewhere or other programs 
will have the same problem.  Any ideas on where the default comes from?  My 
environment variables JRE_HOME and JAVA_HOME both pointed to the jre1.5.0.
