Thanks for pointing these out. Unix syslog sounds killer - but I need to play more.
These topics should be considered advanced and the reader can be referred to existing Tomcat documentation for how to switch to using log4j. | Do you have by chance? I could add a "Why you should consider log4j | section...". See above. I'm sure others will have other ideas.
