The APRLifeCycleListener has to be installed in $catalina_home/conf/server.xml After having done so, the following message appears in the logs: 2008-08-28 15:24:57,838 INFO [main]: An older version 1.1.3 of the Apache Tomcat Native library is installed, while Tomcat recommends versi on greater than 1.1.4 Thanks!
