Since you've redefined the appBase to example.com, nobody's looking at the old
appBase directory. What happens if you put roller.war into
${catalina.home}/example.com/webapps instead?
BTW, if you have only a single <Host> element, there's no reason to change the
name; all requests will be delivered there.
If you have multiple <Host> elements, then post all of your server.xml file.
