Hi,

Thanks for the responses both of you. The only reason I didn't
go for 1.1.16 is the readme.txt said that the latest stable version is
1.1.14. I've given 1.1.16 a try anyway, with the same problem.

I've also tried shutting down the service, then starting up the server
using startup.bat with the same problem.

The only thing I can think of now is that whoever originally installed
the server has "tweaked" something I can't find and I'm best doing a
fresh install. Unless you can suggest a different avenue I can try?

Thanks
Dave

PS The config files are definitely all vanilla as I replaced them with
defaults to rule out any config problems.

First off, get the latest (1.1.16) binaries from here (heatnet.ie is an
old location):
http://tomcat.apache.org/download-native.cgi

 and have tried both

You want win32.

If tcnative-1.dll is in E:\apache-tomcat-server6.0\bin, that should be
all you need.

If you have no joy with the latest 1.1.16, try starting Tomcat using the
scripts instead.
