It doesn't have to, but the docs on the web site are simply copies of the docs in the release. Of course we have the possiblity to do point updates, but we have to be careful in order not to publish things, that are in advance of the existing release. In summary: I updated the docs now, but don't like to commit myself to always update docs before the release ;) It somehow depends on how important a docs update is based on technical input or community feedback. Note: it might take a couple of hours before the changes are visible on the public server.
