Hi,

this is not yet on the official website but wrote
http://home.apache.org/~rmannibucau/tomeeng/advanced/setup/index.html
which works great on ubuntu. This is not a mandatory setup but one
oriented for production. Note also as mentionned on
http://home.apache.org/~rmannibucau/tomeeng/admin/file-layout.html you
have in bin a daemon.sh which can be used as init.d/service script.

Finally I wouldn't use the drop in war approach but just download
tomee.[zip|tar.gz] and extract it somewhere (/opt/tomee/tomee-x.y.z?
for instance) instead of relying on tomcat deb packages + manual
installation.
