I changed my code to stick with JPA 2.0 instead of 2.1 Although i excluded the JPA version and the associated hibernate versions TomEE(JEE6) is not liking that I wanted to use JEE7 features.
I didnt realise that the error is mainly due to version issues. Your response made me aware of that fact.
