I keep seeing this in your config.log:

    /usr/bin/ld: crt1.o: No such file: No such file or directory
    collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
I don't know how that would happen, but it looks like your  
installation of gcc is either broken, or incomplete. Can you compile  
any simple programs with this compiler?
