CDN and Proxy systems. An Edge Service Operations Engineer has intimate knowledge of the internet and networking protocols along with excellent communication skills, and should be able to perform in-depth troubleshooting of caching problems, often communicating directly with the customer’s/property’s technical contact. Additional responsibilities: * Building automation, fixing problems, creating new systems to handle the endless need to scale up, build out, and stay manageable. * Daily management of the Service, including oncall responsibilities * Responding to alerts generated by a variety of tools in a timely fashion as following defined priority levels and response times. * Development, design, architect, new solutions to new problems. Come up with a plan, see it to fruition. The successful candidate will possess a full understanding of web environments and architectures, very strong knowledge of HTTP, DNS, and familiarity with web caching. Applicants must be very comfortable using Unix/Linux and will be able to communicate clearly and effectively to a technical audience. The successful candidate must be well organized, motivated, a team player, with the ability to manage multiple projects/tasks while paying close attention to detail. Required Skills: * An in depth understanding of websites and how HTML, HTTP, DNS and other internet protocols work with a focus on web caching with a 3-5 year experience. * At least 3 years experience working with routers, proxy servers and firewalls. * Good understanding of how rich media and caching technology work. * System Administration experience with both Unix/Linux operating systems is required. * Knowledge and experience of using Perl, shell scripting and command line tools. * Strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. * Previous experience in a CDN is a strong plus. * Experience with Traffic Server, Squid and other CDN/Proxy software a strong plus. * Be capable of providing detailed documentation that would include but not be limited to "How To" procedures, process/procedure documentation and solution documentation.
